Lucas got a 2029 first for McConkey.

The second from the Love deal went back to Greer with the receiver.

Half an hour after Jeanty left, Lucas made another call, and this one was with Greer. Ladd McConkey went to a team that already has Chase, Jefferson, and Jameson Williams. What came back was Greer’s 2029 first. The 2029 second Lucas had just taken for Jordan Love went back the other way with the receiver. That second did not survive two days on the roster.

McConkey has 26 points. The weeks were 14, then 4, then 7, and then nothing you would start. In a league that does not pay for a catch, a receiver with that line is a name you can talk yourself into and a lineup you cannot. Lucas is 0–7. He does not have a week left where a quiet receiver changes the standings. A first three years from now does not change them either, and it is still the piece a team in his spot is supposed to want more.

Greer is 3–4, which is why the first is not a joke and also why it is not a gift. If he plays his way into the six and stays there, that 2029 pick sits toward the back, and Lucas will have moved a receiver who has not had a season for a late one. If the 3–4 holds or gets worse, the pick is the part of this Friday that ages well. Greer can live with either sentence today, because he is trying to win the weeks in front of him. He plays Nathan. McConkey is not why that game gets easier.

Count Friday by itself and it is two sales. Jeanty to Morgan for two 2027 firsts, with a 2028 second going along. McConkey to Greer for a 2029 first, with a second going back. Lucas kept his own 2027 first through both of them. The deadline is still the Thursday after week 10. He is not done being allowed to do this. He is done pretending the roster he had on Monday was going to the playoffs.
